Horry County police say they have one person in custody in connection with a bank robbery at the First Federal Bank inside the Surfside Beach Walmart.

Sgt. Robert Kegler says the suspect passed a note to a teller asking for money. The suspect was not armed.

After taking some money, the man took off on foot while witnesses kept their eyes on him and called police. Kegler says the suspect was found and taken into custody in the Southwood subdivision near the store within an hour after the arrest. Money from the robbery was recovered with the suspect, Kegler says.

Richard McLeod, jr, 44 of Aynor, is in custody at J. Reuben Long Detention Center in connection with the robbery. Charges against McLeod are pending.
