More than 100 people turned out to run and walk on the beach to raise awareness for AIDS Saturday morning.

Careteams' 5K Run and AIDS walk in Myrtle Beach Kicked off at Plyler Park and ended with a brisk run on the beach.

As participants crossed the finish line, they said they were happy to bring awareness to hiv and aids in the community.

"Everybody should. We are all humans, and we're all there to help each other," participant David Garcia said.

Project Runway's Jack Mackenroth has been living with HIV for 22 years. He was the Grand Marshal of the event.

According to the South Carolina HIV/AIDS council the state ranks 8th in the nation in the rate of new AIDS cases annually. Columbia, South Carolina's capital, is the 9th city in the nation with the most new cases.
