ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Standing vigil around the clock to express their displeasure with Wall Street is attracting the homeless to the Occupy Asheville encampment.

Asheville Police Lt. Wallace Welch says officers were called three times to a former Occupy Asheville base camp about problems with homeless people. He says one person was arrested and victims in the other two cases declined to press charges.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that another confrontation erupted now that protesters are camping in front of the Federal Building. Police were called before dawn Friday after a homeless man spent the night threatening to fight and harassing women with inappropriate comments.

Security is a common concern at Occupy camps across the country as free food, medical attention and a shared political attracts homeless people.
