A 15-year-old boy was charged for stealing a gun from the Dillon County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say Sheriff Major Hulon was mentoring the teenager and he was at the sheriff's office often.
They say he took a gun from the desk of the evidence custodian two weeks ago. Deputies tracked down the teen and found the weapon behind a house on South 10th Avenue.
The boy is charged with Larceny.
