Santee Cooper celebrated ten years of selling green power Tuesday.

To celebrate, the company planted trees at what it calls its solar schools, including Myrtle Beach Middle School.

Solar schools have solar panels to generate of their own electricity.

In the past ten years, Santee Cooper says it generated 580,000 megawatt hours of green power and sold a portion of that to customers.

Customers can buy green power at a price of $3.00 for every 100 kilowatt hours.
