A prison guard at South Carolina's Department of Juvenile Justice has been arrested on charges he sexually assaulted two inmates.
SLED says the inmates are 16 and 19 years old.
They charged Gary Whisonant, 28, with Sexual Misconduct with an Inmate, Misconduct in Office, and Assault and Battery.
Warrants say Whisonant had anal and oral intercourse with an inmate for the purpose of sexual gratification on the grounds of the Birchwood campus between August 1 and September 23. Warrants say he confessed.
They also say he touched the genitalia of an inmate without consent on September 23 on an activity bus.
Whisonant was booked into the Richland County Detention Center.
