MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) - Republican Eddy Southard got about 60 percent of the vote in a special election to fill the seat of the late Rep. David Umphlett of Moncks Corner,  who died May 29.

The Democratic candidate, Moncks Corner council member Tonia Aiken-Taylor, says she plans to run again in next year's election.

The district includes parts of Goose Creek and Moncks Corner and some smaller communities
