Corn harvest at L.W. Living History Museum

History buffs got their harvest on Saturday morning.

Dozens of Coastal Carolina University students helped out at the L.W. Living History Museum's fall corn harvest. They shucked corn from the stalks, and then groups loaded the crop into a mule drawn cart.

The volunteers said it was very hard work.

"When I was imagining it when I signed our group up, I pictured just the straight rows of corn and just picking it nice and green and pretty, but this is a lot different. I guess because in older ages there's not all modern technology so, there's a lot of weeds that are taller than me," volunteer Chris Jones said.

The museum is representative of what farming was like between 1900 to 1955. The farm is located at Harris Shortcut Road on Highway 701 North in Horry County.
