Latest local news, weather and high school sports for Myrtle Beach and Florence

Closings, delays and schedule changes due to Hurricane Irene

Below are the schedule changes that have come into our newsroom due to Hurricane Irene.

Public Schools: 

*Brunswick County Schools will dismiss early Friday on the following schedule: Elementary-11:50 am, Middle-12:55 pm, High-12:50 pm

*Georgetown County Schoolswill operate on a half day schedule Friday. The District says check with their website  for exact dismissal times.

*Columbus County schools will dismiss at 1 PM for students on Friday.

Colleges:

*Saturday classes for Horry-Georgetown Tech have been cancelled.

*Webster University in Myrtle Beach: cancelling all classes for Friday evening classes, Saturday and Sunday

*All CCU Saturday events have been postponed due to Irene. Visit goccusports.com for up-to-date schedules.

Businesses:

The J. Bryan Floyd Community Center in North Myrtle Beach will be closed on Saturday, August 27.

The North Myrtle Beach Aquatic & Fitness Center will close at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26.  The Center will open again for business at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, and will remain open until 6:00 p.m.  On Sunday, August 28, the Center will observe normal operating hours.

Concerned Citizens Operation Reach-Out Organization (CCORO)Twenty- Sixth Annual Award Banquet for Saturday August 27,2011 has been canceled due to weather and will be rescheduled to October 8th,20011

*The North Myrtle Beach Farmers Market will be closed on Friday, August 26 but will return to its normal schedule on Tuesday, August 30, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

Events:

*The Conway SuperStars competition for this Saturday has been canceled. It has been rescheduled for Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. At the Conway Riverfront Park.

*The canned food drive benefiting Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach before the MBHS-Carolina Forest football game this week has been postponed to Friday, September 16th.
