The City of Conway Planning Commission and members of the Horry County Democratic Party met Tuesday to discuss creating a new African-American historical corridor in the city.
The meeting was open to residents, business and property owners in the city.
Organizers say a new corridor would provide the African-American community with an opportunity to have a historical corridor just like downtown Conway.
"It allows us in the future to be able to share with young people who might not be part of this history some of the great things that occurred in Conway and their community," Deloris Edwards Rozier said.
The Planning Commission is looking for properties and/or buildings that are at least 50 years old and could have a historical significance.
