Governor Nikki Haley plans to sign the the congressional reapportionment bill into law at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach Monday at 3:30 p.m.

The bill forms a new 7th Congressional District that encompasses the Grand Strand and the Pee Dee.

Names are surfacing for possible candidates for the new district congressional seat.

But legal challenges are expected. The plan also must pass review by the U.S. Justice Department.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports one of the names being mentioned as a candidate in the predominantly Republican district is SC state Rep. Alan Clemmons, who headed the state House's redistricting committee. Clemmons says it's too early for him to be focusing on any race. State Rep. Thad Viers of Myrtle Beach has also been mentioned.

The AP contributed to this report.
