One more unseasonably hot and humid day is expected across the area. A heat advisory has been issued for Horry, Georgetown, Florence, Darlington, Marion, Dillon, Marlboro, Williamsburg, Scotland, and Robeson counties from 11am until 8pm. Look for highs in the low 90s along the beaches and upper 90s Inland with the heat index from 100° to 108° for several hours during the afternoon. This can be very dangerous if you spend extended periods of time in the heat or overexert yourself. Take the necessary precautions to stay cool and well hydrated. Wear light colored and loose fitting clothing if you must be out. Keep an eye on your neighbors, the elderly, and make sure your outdoors pets are protected from the heat as well. If possible, avoid spending a lot of time outside, but if necessary, earlier in the morning and late in the evening are the best times to be out.
The chance for thunderstorms will be on the rise for today and tomorrow with the best chance Tuesday. The storms will remain the hit or miss variety with many areas unfortunately staying dry. Any of the storms that develop there will be areas of heavy rain, intense lightning, and strong wind gusts. You can always track any rain showers and storms around the area on First Alert Live Doppler 15000. Don't forget to sign up for Alert 15 and 15 Weather Call if you haven't done so yet to be prepared whenever severe weather strikes.
