Officials say the expanded facility at Seacoast Medical Center now includes 32 medical surgical beds, eight beds in the intensive care unit, and 10 beds in the progressive care unit.
The upgrades cost $33 million.
Board member Frank Boulineau says the addition is fulfilling a need within the community, "North Myrtle Beach, Little River hasn't had a hospital of course. It was the biggest community in the state without a hospital so Loris Health Care System has been working on bringing this here for about ten years. It's gonna be a major economic boost to the community, and give the community great health care."
Seacoast opened in October 1, 2000 providing outpatient services, same day surgery, and 24 hour emergency care.
