(AP) -- Authorities say they want the death penalty against a Florence County man charged with murder after authorities identified a body as belonging to his missing 22-year-old wife.
Florence County Sheriff's Capt. Brett Camp said Thursday that authorities are working to build a case for the death penalty against 23-year-old Rodney Ivey.
Authorities said Wednesday a body found in the Coward-Scranton community is that of Devin Ivey, who was last seen a week ago at an Olanta motel. Investigators say her husband killed her after a fight.
Rodney Ivey has been charged with murder, giving false information to police and a probation violation. Authorities say he told them different stories about what happened to his wife.
Bond was denied Thursday for Ivey as Magistrate Judge Belinda Timmons told Ivey that he could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted of his wife's murder.
He is scheduled to appear in court next month.
