Arkie Brown is charged with Purse Snatching, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and of Stolen Property. Police continue to search for another suspect.
Horry County police say they're looking for Christopher Messier, 40, of Myrtle Beach, on charges of Purse Snatching, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, Resisting Arrest and Receiving Stolen Goods.
They say he and Arkie Eljawa Brown, 26, of Lake City, stole a woman's purse at the Garden City Walmart Tuesday.
Police spotted the vehicle witnesses described and tried to stop the suspects, but they took off. The men ditched the car in the Pines of St. James neighborhood of Murrells Inlet.
Police say that's where they arrested Brown in a retention pond. Brown is charged with Purse Snatching, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and two counts of Possession of Stolen Property.
