Horry County police captured one of two purse snatching suspects they were looking for in the Pines of St. James neighborhood in Murrells Inlet. on Tuesday, but called off the search for the second.
Police say Arkie Eljawa Brown, 26 of Lake City, and another man snatched a purse from a woman standing at the photo counter at the Garden City Walmart Tuesday afternoon and took off in a car.
Officers saw the vehicle and tried to stop the suspects, who ditched it and took off in the Pines of St. James neighborhood.
Police found Brown in a retention pond. He remains in custody Wednesday morning, charged with two counts of Possession of Stolen Property. Police say additional charges are expected.
The man they're still looking for is described as white, in his late 30's, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jean shorts, a Myrtle Beach straw hat and flip flops.
