FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a Fayetteville husband and wife have been charged with murder for beating to death with a baseball bat a man who owed them money.
Investigators say the body of 31-year-old Angel Pesante-Ventura was found last September in a restricted area at Fort Bragg by a group of soldiers surveying a site for training. He had been dead about two weeks.
Fayetteville police say 33-year-old Jimmy Bailey was arrested as he tried to board a train Friday and his wife, 33-year-old Ann Marie Bailey, turned herself in Saturday. They are both charged with first-degree murder.
They are both being held in the Cumberland County jail and it wasn't immediately clear if either had an attorney.
