Victim identified: Man dies after truck goes into Horry County pond

The victim who died after his truck went into a retention pond over the weekend has been identified.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says William Long, 59, of Myrtle Beach, died Sunday.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dick Scobee Road and Ronald McNair Boulevard.

Willard says it appears Long suffered a heart attack and that is what led to the accident.

Horry County Fire Rescue and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the fatal accident that a pilot witnessed while flying overhead.

Willard says an autopsy is scheduled to be performed Monday morning.
