A newly renovated children's center was unveiled Saturday afternoon.

The Children's Recovery Center is a nonprofit organization that relies on donations and grants to offer forensic examinations, counseling and legal support to sexually abused children.

Forensic interviewer Dianne Nordeen says The Children's Recovery Center saw more than 240 children a year for forensic interviews and exams in 2009 and 2010. They also provide 400 children as well as their families with therapy each year.

The Children's Recovery Center changes include a new coat of paint, sod and landscaping, a closet full of new games and sound proof walls in the interviewing rooms.

Nordeen says the facelift will help the abused children the serve.

"It creates and environment that is inviting and warm so when the children come in they feel comfortable. It also creates an environment of trust for them," she adds.

The grand re-opening also included a ribbon cutting, an easter egg hunt, and a bounce house for local kids.
