COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio State University chief fundraiser Andrew Sorensen has died at age 72.
He served as president at the University of Alabama and then at the University of South Carolina before joining OSU. He also worked as provost at the University of Florida and as executive director of the AIDS Institute at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.
OSU President E. Gordon Gee says in a statement on the school's website Sorensen died unexpectedly Sunday. He offers no further details.
Sorensen was named president of The Ohio State University Foundation and senior vice president for development in September.
Gee says Sorensen was a distinguished leader in higher education.
Sorensen is survived by his wife and two sons.
