LITCHFIELD BEACH, SC -- There's a few more people with trained eyes in the sky. The National Weather Service held a weather spotters class Friday in Litchfield Beach.

The volunteers help to keep communities safe by reporting severe weather to the National Weather Service (NWS).

"The public is just as important to us as our radar and computer data," said Joshua Weiss, a NWS Meteorologist. "We rely on them tremendously all the time during any sort of warning event."
