A Bennettsville man wishes he had just one more chance to see his mother.

Robin Williams, 59, was shot and killed in Charleston County Sunday. The crime is still unsolved.

Fred Davis, Robin's son, was at work Monday when he found out his mother was dead, her body found behind an abandoned home.

"Nobody deserves that - their life get taken by somebody else. But no she didn't deserve that," he said.

Fred went to Charleston to talk with detectives and was somewhat surprised by what they told him about his mother. She had been living in a homeless shelter.

"I really didn't know she was living that way down there until I got there, cause I thought she was staying with somebody."

Fred says his mother fell on hard times following the death of her husband and the loss of her job. He says she left Bennettsville two years ago, and that was the last time he saw her.

Fred says she came home a few weeks ago to visit family, but he didn't get the chance to see her.

"We just missed each other, you know what I'm saying. I just hated it that we did miss each other, knowing it was the last time I would ever see her again."

Fred says he's constantly thought about his mother, even prayed for her safety over the past couple of years. He wishes now she would have come back home to be with family and friends.

Charleston police have not released any information about a motive or a suspect in Williams' death.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Charleston Police Department at 843-577-7434, Sgt. Barry Goldstein at 843-509-1313 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 843-554-1111.
