(AP) -- CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - More than 130 members of the 16th Airlift Squadron out of Charleston are returning home after a four-month deployment in Turkey.
The squadron, whose members fly C-17 transports, return to the South Carolina base on Thursday.
Squadron personnel worked from Incirlik Air Base supporting combat operations in the Middle East. The crews flew 3,125 sorties and logged more than 9,500 combat flying hours during the past 120 days. They performed 87 combat airdrops as well as airlifting more than 109 million pounds of material. They also transported more than 170,000 military personnel.
