Lance Corporal Sonny Collins with South Carolina Highway Patrol says an Horry County police officer will not be ticketed for a Friday accident.

The officer rear-ended a car on Highway 701 near Morningside Drive in Horry County just before 4 p.m.

Collins says traffic was traveling south on Highway 701 and when it slowed, the officer's cruiser hit the car in front of it.

Five people were taken to Conway Medical Center, the officer and the four people in the car in front of him. Collins said they had non life-threatening injuries.
