Former NewsChannel 15 reporter Rebecca Fox is a student in Cairo. She's pursuing her master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies at American University in Egypt

Rebecca has had a front row seat to the demonstrations and protests.

NewsChannel 15's Allyson Floyd spoke to Rebecca Friday afternoon, not long after Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak announced he would step aside.

When the announcement came, Rebecca headed to Tahrir Square where she said the mood was unbelievably jubilant and celebratory. Rebecca said for her own safety, she'd only ventured out a few times since the protests started.

She said she wanted to reassure her family that she is safe and doing well.

You can watch the interview in its entirety in the video player above.
