Shannon Smith, 41, was released from the Florence County Detention Center on a personal recognizance bond.

Booking reports show he was arrested early Sunday morning.

Smith is the chief of Howe Springs Fire Department.

We're told he was driving his personal car and was off duty at the time of his arrest.

Smith's fellow firefighters at his department plan to hold a meeting Monday night to discuss the situation.
