(AP) -- The South Carolina Senate is holding its first confirmation hearings for Gov. Nikki Haley's Cabinet nominees.
The Senate Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee has planned confirmation hearings for Thursday.
Haley's first Cabinet pick was Bobby Hitt, a former newspaper editor and BMW Manufacturing executive, to lead the Commerce Department.
The governor's second pick was Catherine Templeton to direct the state Labor, Licensing and Regulation Department. Templeton is a labor management lawyer who Haley says will help fight unionization efforts at Boeing's new North Charleston plant.
