About 100 people came out to the Carmike Cinema at Broadway at the Beach Tuesday night for The Myrtle Beach Annual Film Festival'ssneak peak.
Movie-goers caught advance screenings of some of the films featured in this year's festival. More than a dozen countries will compete this year in categories including animation, documentary, and short film.
This the 6th year for the event. Founder Jerry Dalton says the quality is far better than what many movie-goers might expect.
"If you're not used to independent film, it will shock you when you come in to view the work, because you're expecting shaky poor quality film, and it's not," he says.
Dalton runs Dalton Pictures and is also the founder of MBIFF. The festival has become a larger player in the Independent Film Distribution industry, placing 28 films including 4 shorts in multi-state national theatrical distribution in the year and half.
In the past the festival has been held in December. This year it begins on April 19th.
Also new this year - proceeds will be donated to area charities.
