Myrtle Beach isn't really known for it's winter sports, but for a short time you can try ice skating at The Market Common.
The shopping venue boasts a synthetic ice skating rink in Valor Park. You put on real ice skates, but the ice you're skating on - isn't real. "It's a plastic polymer with a solution base on time, almost like silicone, and you put water on it and spread it on top, and you skate just like regular ice," explained David Tibbets, Perfect Parties USA.
The rink is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through January 2nd, except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The cost is $7, but a portion of that benefits the Red Cross.
If you spend $50 at the shops and restaurants at The Market Common, you can skate for free when you show your receipts.
