The Horry County School District is involving parents, students and school board members to map out a strategy for the future.
More than 50 people met at school district headquarters to start a two-day strategic planning process. Wednesday, they talked about what the district is doing now and the changes that have occurred over the past twenty years.
Thursday, they'll meet again to map out where the district would like to be five years from now. The end result may change what teachers teach in the classroom. "It could change the curriculum and that's a good thing. We need to revisit what are we teaching and what direction are we taking students and is that really preparing them for the world that exists today in the 21st century?" said Dr. Cindy Elsberry, Horry County School Superintendent.
Elsberry says the meetings will lead to an action plan to put the five-year strategic plan into place.
