Democrat Ed Clements held off his Republican challenger, Rose Mary Parham. Clements ended up with 56% of the vote to Parham's 44%.
Exact vote totals have not been released, as Florence County is still hand counting absentee ballots.
Clements told NewsChannel 15 Tuesday night that Parham had called him to concede. Clements acknowledged Parham's hard work during the campaign and thanked his supporters. "I'm very grateful to the citizens today. They saw the truth - the job that we've been doing and the excellence in prosecution that we provide, and they're giving the opportunity for us to serve them for four more years."
Rose Mary Parham told us in a statement that she would like to see Clements implement some of the reforms she campaigned on to make Florence and Marion counties safer places to live.
