Republican Kevin Ryan defeated incumbent Vida Miller 52% to 48%.
Ryan garnered 8,129 votes to Miller's 7,504 votes.
Miller has been in office since 1996. Ryan is just 22-years-old and a political newcomer.
We caught up with Ryan after learning he won the race. "It was a very close race. We were very proud of the campaign we ran. I think people made it clear they're ready for a change and I'm excited to get to Columbia and get to work."
