A Mullins plant is closing, putting about 40 people out of work.

Havells USA General Manager Slemming Jensen says they decided to relocate the company. They will shut down around the first of the year and move the company to Atlanta.

Jensen says there are a number of factors that played a role in the decision, but he can't go into specifics. He says workers will be offered the opportunity to relocate as well.

Havells USA has been in Mullins for three years. The company was formerly called Supreme Lighting, which was in Mullins for about 30 years.

Havells USA distributes lighting products across the country.
