The Myrtle Beach Mini Marathon will cause a short detour for drivers going to and from Myrtle Beach International this Sunday.
The 13.1 mile race starts at 7:00 a.m. near Medieval Times and crosses the Intracoastal Waterway on the Fantasy Harbour Bridge. Runners will use the westbound lanes of Harrelson Boulevard, then turn left into Coastal Grand Mall.
The City of Myrtle Beach asks that you allow a little extra time for Sunday travel.
(Times are approximate, but will be very close.)
Entering the airport:
- The Harrelson Boulevard exit from southbound US 17 will be closed from 6:45 to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday. Southbound US 17 drivers headed to the airport will go under Harrelson Boulevard, make the first u-turn to head north on US 17, then take the eastbound Harrelson Boulevard exit. Northbound drivers on US 17 may access Harrelson Boulevard as usual.
- Southbound Grissom Parkway, from Harrelson Boulevard to US 501, will be closed to traffic from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. Drivers headed to the airport during those hours should use Seaboard Street or Highway 15 instead.
Exiting the airport:
- Traffic leaving Myrtle Beach International Airport will be detoured onto Highway 15 from 6:45 to 8:00 a.m. The westbound lanes of Harrelson Boulevard should reopen by 8:00 a.m. Grissom Parkway between Harrelson Boulevard and US 501 should reopen by 9:00 a.m.
- Drivers should allow a little extra time to get to their destinations Sunday.

- George Bishop Parkway - northbound lanes closed at city limit to Fantasy Harbor Drive, 6:30 to 7:45 a.m.
- Harrelson Boulevard - westbound lanes closed from Seaboard Street to the city limit, 6:30 to 8:00 a.m.
- Exit ramp from US 17 southbound to Harrelson Boulevard - closed, 6:30 to 8:00 a.m.
- Exit ramp from US 17 northbound to Harrelson Boulevard - left turn lane closed, 6:30 to 8:00 a.m. Note: Airport traffic will have access to eastbound lanes on Harrelson Boulevard.
- Mall Drive at Coastal Grand Mall - closed, 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.
- Coastal Grand Circle - inside clockwise lane closed from Mall Drive to 17th Avenue South, 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.
- Mall access roads parallel to Pine Island Road - closed, 5:00 to 8:00 a.m.
- Northernmost mall entrance on Seaboard Street - closed, 5:00 to 8:00 a.m.
- 17th Avenue South - closed at Coastal Grand Circle to Dividend Loop, 7:00 to 8:30 a.m.
- · Grissom Parkway - southbound lanes closed from Harrelson Boulevard to Highway 501, 7:00 to 8:15 a.m.
- Grissom Parkway - northbound lanes closed from Harrelson Boulevard to 29th Avenue North, 7:00 to 9:45 a.m. Note: Vehicles will be able to exit Racepath on Grissom Parkway, but must turn right onto US 501. Portions of Grissom Parkway will open as runners clear the path.
- Dividend Loop - closed, 7:00 to 8:30 a.m.
- American Way - closed, 7:00 to 8:30 a.m.
- Celebrity Circle at Broadway at the Beach - closed from IMAX Theater to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, inside lane only, 7:30 to 9:45 a.m.
- 29th Avenue North - eastbound lanes closed from Resort Drive to North Ocean Boulevard, 7:30 to 10:00 a.m.
- North Ocean Boulevard - southbound lanes closed from 30th Avenue North to Second Avenue North, 7:45 to 10:30 a.m. Note: Northbound traffic may flow, but no westbound turns off of North Ocean Boulevard will be permitted in this area.
