Bennettsville police Lt. Larry Turner says between 8:00 and 8:15 Thursday morning, dispatch recieved a call saying there was a bomb in Marlboro County High School.
Police responded along with a bomb dog from Chesterfield County and a dog from the State Law Enforcement Division. It took two hours for police to clear the school. They found no bombs and no bomb-making materials.
Lt Turner told NewsChannel 15, "We've had these here before and we treat each like it's a real thing." When we asked if police were any more concerned because of the recent shooting at Socastee High in Horry County he said, "Whether anything is going on or not, we treat everything like its real."
Students were evacuated to a designated area near the school. Classes have now resumed as normal.
Police will investigate who made the call.
