A flash flood watch is in effect for the counties on the Grand Strand and in the Pee Dee until 8:00am Friday.
Your NewsChannel 15 First Alert Weather Team expects the heaviest rain later Wednesday afternoon and overnight through Thursday morning. Rain totals between 3 and 7 inches are possible with isolated areas seeing a possible 8 inches.
This rain combined with the 3 to 8 inches we saw Sunday and Monday could cause extensive flooding in low lying areas.
If you see standing water on a roadway, do not attempt to go through it. You cannot tell how deep the water is, and it only takes a foot of water to float a car. The National Weather Service says "Turn Around. Don't Drown."
The formation of Tropical Storm Nicole will have no impact on our area. It will dissipate before ever reaching the Grand Strand. The rain we're expecting is from a non-tropical system not associated with Nicole.
There is a possibility of wind gusts up to 30mph later Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. Normally that's not a big problem, but because the ground is already soft, there is a possibility of trees falling down.
At this time, NewsChannel 15 has no reports of any school or business closures due to the rain. We will post any closings or delays as they come in to our newsroom.
