Abdullah Mustafa may no longer be officially affiliated with the Waccamaw EOC, but he's still contesting the re-election results.
Mustafa and his supporters are asking those who originally voted for him in the election last year to come forward and sign a petition.
Mustafa says their voting rights were violated when they were not notified of the reassessment process.
The ousted board member is also considering asking for a federal audit of the EOC from the U.S. Justice Department.
"Lift them out of poverty, that's the purpose of this organization, and again they haven't been doing that at all. So our job here is to continue to fight even if we have to go all the way to D.C. to make it happen for the poor folks," Mustafa said.
The state temporarily halted funding of the EOC several months ago after finding the organization wasn't in compliance on several issues, including the election of Mustafa to the board. After changes within the organization, the funding was restored.
