A Waccamaw High School student who was hit by a hit-and-run driver is out of critical condition.
Jasonn Russell, 16, was hit about a week and a half ago on Litchfied Road in Litchfield Beach.
He spent eight days in intensive care.
A family friend says Russell has been released from ICU, though he's still in the hospital.
State troopers charged Thomas Gallagher, 18, with leaving the scene of an accident. He turned himself in to authorities two days after the wreck.
