Darlington County deputies arrested a Hartsville businessman for hiring someone to kill his estranged wife and her friend.

Captain Andy Locklair says Hadi Masoud, 38, is charged with two counts of solicitation of murder.

Wednesday night, an undercover agent posing as a hitman met with Masoud. Locklair says Masoud offered to pay the hitman money to kill the pair. Deputies arrested Masoud on the spot.

Deputies say Masoud owns Alexander's clothing store.

He's being held in the Darlington County Detention Center, where he's awaiting a bond hearing Thursday afternoon.
