MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- It's been a busier summer than usual at hospitals along South Carolina's Grand Strand, the heart of the state's $18 billion tourism industry.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports area hospitals are seeing more patients than usual this summer.
Joan Carroza of Grand Strand Regional Medical Center says the hospital had to divert some patients to other hospitals for a few hours last week.
She says it's the first time that's happened in a decade.
Carroza says there seems to be more people in town.
Capt. Stacy Roberts says Horry County Fire Rescue has had to move units around the county to make sure all areas are covered.
