CONWAY, S.C. (AP) -- A contained, but still active forest fire is creating a lot of smoke along the South Carolina coast and is blamed for a chain-reaction car crash this week that injured four people.

State Forestry Commission spokesman Scott Hawkins said Thursday that the fire near Myrtle Beach was fully contained. But he says state and local firefighters are continuing to battle hot spots over the more than 100-acre area.

The fire was started June 14 by a lightning strike and has been burning ever since. The National Weather Service issued a smoke advisory for Thursday morning.

Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach that heavy smoke from the fire limited visibility Tuesday, contributing to a seven-car crash in nearby Conway.
