Press Release - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has scheduled a meeting in Hartsville, S.C. to discuss the results of an augmented inspection of a March 28 reactor shutdown and two fires in the plant's electrical systems at the Robinson nuclear plant.
The meeting, scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2 in the Daniels Board Room at the Coker College Library, 300 E. College Ave. in Hartsville, will be open to members of the public and the news media. NRC team members will also be available to answer questions after the results are presented. A telephone conference bridge line has also been established for anyone who may wish to listen to the meeting but cannot attend. That telephone connection can be accessed by dialing 888-455-7857 and entering the pass code 41484#.
The NRC originally dispatched a three-person special inspection team to the Robinson plant, but further review pointed to the need for additional inspection.
An Augmented Inspection Team (AIT) is formed by the NRC to review more significant events or issues at NRC-licensed facilities, and the Robinson AIT included members of the original special inspection team as well as five additional inspectors. The AIT was led by NRC Region II Branch Chief Bob Haag, who will lead the discussion of the team's findings.
The NRC will issue a written report of the AIT review in the next several weeks and that report will be available on the NRC's web site.
