An upstate man drowned in Pawleys Island Saturday night after he wandered away from his family.

The Georgetown County Coroner's Office says Robert Breckenridge, 67, fell into a retention pond just after 9:00 at Pawleys Plantation.

Officials say Breckenridge suffered from an Alzheimer's-like condition.

He was from Greenville and was on the Grand Strand visiting family.
