Boats took over the water at grand park in Myrtle Beach Saturday.
As many as 3,500 were expected at the Market Common all morning and afternoon for the second annual Ground Zero Dragon Boat Festival.
About 900 people took part in the race, splitting up into teams made up of 22-rowers with a captain and and a drummer.
The drummers had the task of trying to keep rowers in sequence with their drum beat.
Last year's event raised more than $40,000 for Ground Zero, a local ministry for high school and middle school students.
Electrifying Eels - Holly Roesing came in first place in the mixed - men and women - category. Hawaii 5-0 Paddlers came in first in the women's category. Christian Surfing Federation of Myrtle Beach came in first place in the youth category.
NewsChannel 15 had a team out there. We came in first place in both our races and had the ninth best time overall in the mixed category. 22 teams competed in that category.
