After seeing wind gusts on Wednesday top out over 40 mph, today will be a little less windy. Expect a breezy day with sustained winds from 10-20mph. Sunny skies will help our temperatures reach the upper 40s by the afternoon, but the breeze will make it feel like the upper 30s at times.
With high clouds coming in tonight and the winds diminishing, temperatures will drop below freezing into the middle and upper 20s.
An area of low pressure will be working its way across the Gulf of Mexico over the next 24-36 hours. By Friday this system will be moving into and through Central Florida and heading off the Carolina coastline by Friday night. With this low off to our South and East, this system will wrap some moisture into the Carolinas on Friday evening into early Saturday morning. With cold air in place there will be the possibility snow showers overnight. A slight shift in the low's track 50 miles South could greatly reduce the moisture and keep us dry. We'll continue to monitor this developing system and bring you the latest tonight on NewsChannel 15 at 6pm and 7pm.
During the day on Friday expect clouds to increase as the system gets closer. Under cloudy skies, temperatures will reach the upper 40s. We'll remain dry during the day, but the chance of precip will increase as we head into the evening and overnight.
