Snow storms in the Washington, DC region have blanketed communities and caused hundreds of thousands of power outages.

To help restore some of those massive power outages Progress Energy Carolinas is sending 200 line and tree workers to the Washington, DC area.

Officials say workers could remain in the area for up to a week.

Progress Energy says they're providing the help as part of a mutual-assistance agreement with utilities throughout the region.

A Mid-Atlantic energy utility was in the Carolinas to help with repairs after last weekend's ice storm that hit North and South Carolina.
