Myrtle Beach city residents could be seeing some relief earlier than expected on their property tax bills.

Today, the state house gave final approval to a bill that would provide faster property relief for homeowners.

Myrtle Beach City Council passed a one cent tax for tourism which the city began collecting in August, and in exchange, property owners were to receive tax relief in the third year the tax was collected.

The new bill would send 20 percent of the money raised from the one percent sales tax for tourism to relieve property taxes in the city in the second year the tax is collected, rather than the third.

The bill will now be considered by the State Senate.
