Ripley's Aquarium collected nearly 1,700 toys for children in need this year.

The aquarium ran several promotions, including matching every toy brought in with one from their gift shop. This past weekend they offered $5.00 admission to anyone who brought a toy.

Ripley's is thrilled with the outcome. "Completely exceeded our goals this year. I know my personal goal was completely exceeded. I was very happy. I was almost crying Sunday night when I got home and found out how many toys we brought in for those guys. It was just great," said Jessica Mula, marketing, Ripley's Aquarium.

The toys will benefit the Toys for Tots program, Caring for Kids and other organizations helping children in need.
