The U.S. Census Bureau held its first mass testing site in Conway and Florence Saturday as it began the hiring process of 2,000 locals in the Pee Dee and Grand Strand.

The estimated 2,000 jobs will include census takers, crew leaders and other management-level positions. The majority of the jobs will be for enumerators -- or the people who go door to door to collect census data.

Those jobs will pay $11.50/hour, and will last for 8-10 weeks beginning next spring and lasting through the summer.

Recruiting for the positions will continue through the first of the year, and the majority of the hiring will take place between March and April.

A second mass testing site is planned for January, though no date has been set.

However, you can test earlier than that by calling 866-861-2010.
