(AP) -- South Carolina U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint is launching a bid for a second term with $2.8 million in hand and a growing national profile.
DeMint said in a video Monday that he's running for re-electiion. He criticizes politicians in both parties for increased spending, debt and taxes and says that has brought the nation's economy to its knees and cost millions of jobs.
DeMint's campaign says it raised more than $500,000 in the quarter that ended Sept. 30.
The Greenville Republican has no announced opposition in June's primary. He's raised his national profile as an outspoken critic of former President Bush's plans for immigration law overhauls and for
saying the GOP can make a Waterloo of President Obama's health care overhaul.
